Cross Roads Farmers Market Palm Harbor 5 April
The Cross Roads Farmer’s Market will be open from 9am to 2pm at the historic Hartley House in Palm Harbor. The market will have fresh produce, raw local honey and fresh seafood. Plus, there will be other items like herbs, spices, and humus and natural pet foods. There will be some vendors selling local crafts and vendors selling snacks. However, the primary focus for the market is selling produce and food stuffs. The Hartley House was built between 1914 and 1919 and the original owner “Judge” Thomas Hartley was a justice of the peace, prominent businessman and Methodist layminister in the early 20th century. The Hartley House, located at the corner of Curlew and Belcher roads, is now the North Pinellas Historical Museum and operated by the Palm Harbor Historical Society. The North Pinellas Historical Museum contains examples of early Native American tradition and lore through the advent of Spanish exploration in the 16th century, and the early pioneer days, leading up to the creation of The Orange Belt Rail Road and early 20th century tourism and growth. The house is a rare example of traditional Southern homestead construction incorporating native materials like heart pine flooring while embracing early 20th Century technologies including poured concrete walls and cast stone block. Hundreds of photographs and artifacts dating back to the area’s early days are in its collection.
