Gecko Fest at Gulfport Saturday
Celebrate the end of summer and Labor Day weekend in Gulfport along Beach Blvd today during their annual Gecko Fest from noon to 10pm. Gecko Fest is an a whimsical combination of a family-oriented Mardi Gras, Renaissance Faire, and British Loony Parties gone Gecko. This free event will have street performers, 3 stages for entertainment and vendors selling food, drink and all sorts of unique wares. Join the parade which starts at 6pm and wear your best Gecko inspired costume, prizes will be awarded! At 8pm, there will be street dance where all ages can enjoy themselves. Last years Fest had an estimated 15,000 people so get ready to have fun with a lot of other people. Gulfport is a small artsy waterfront town between St. Petersburg and St. Pete Beach on the shores of Boca Ciega Bay. It is a place that evokes the welcome of old Florida with yearlong activities and places to visit. Gulfport has many award winning restaurants and shopping that particularly showcase the work of local artisans. It also has a professional 170 seat theater, a refurbished 1920’s style Casino Ballroom and dockage to bring your boat in for the day or evening to visit.
