4 Free Tickets to the Tampa Bay Lighting Game!

Stop by the Diners Reef facility, Number 15 on the map, on MacDill AFB on Tuesday 4 Dec for 4 free tickets to the Tampa Bay Lighting’s game on Thursday 6 Dec against the Carolina Hurricanes.  The game will start at 7:30pm at the St. Pete Times Forum. There will be a Tampa Bay Lightning table setup in the Diners Reef facility that will hand out tickets while supplies last.  You will also get coupons for 4 free hot dogs and 4 free Pepsis to enjoy during the game!  They will hand out tickets from 1030am to 1pm.  Don’t wait till the end because there is a limited amount of tickets available.

The Seascapes Beach Club at MacDill AFB is having a free Food Fest on Monday 3 Dec from 5:30pm to 7:30pm! Everyone is invited. There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment. Watch the beautiful sunset and enjoy the reasonably priced cocktails! You can also order off the menu.

If you can’t make it on Monday, there are also plenty of lunch and dinner food specials to enjoy during the week!

Handz On Family Program at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art on 1 Dec

This Saturday 1 Dec at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota try out the Handz On Family Program. This family event will introduce the whole family to the architect Ca’ d’Zan. Children will be allowed to try drawing and drafting tools Also children will get a chance to design and make a mosaic inspired by Ca’ d’Zan.

These activities are first come first serve basis, all children must be accompanied by an adult (maximum 3 children per adult).

The Mosaic activity is available from 1p-3p and the family activities sheet is available all day.

Admission prices are as follows:

Golf Shoes and Re-gripping Specials at the Bay Palms Golf Complex

The Bay Palms Golf Complex on MacDill AFB is having a special 10% discount off the price of all in stock golf shoes. There is a great selection of Nike and Footjoy shoes available. When you bring 8 or more clubs to get re-gripped, you will get a $1 off the price for each club. This time of year is really the best time to play golf in Florida. Although the sun sets around 6pm this time of year, the heat is gone during the day so anytime during the day is great for golf.

The golf course is open from 6:30am to 6:30pm everyday. The driving range has lights and is available 24hrs a day with a bucket of balls only costing $1!

“The Water is Wide: the Art of Boat Building”

St.Petersburg’s  Studio@620  is home to an exhibit  celebrating the art of boat building.

The exhibit includes hand on activities for kids and live demonstrations in the studio where and an actual 15-foot boat is being built. Charley Morgan who has crewed aboard some of America’s Cup participants, and a yacht designer was brought in to produce this multi-dimensional exhibit. The exhibit also includes nautical paintings and sculptures.

Many Water is Wide events are free; for other events there is a charge. The average admission fee per person is $5.

Enjoy the Santa Fest and Holiday Parade on 1 Dec in Ybor City

The Santa Fest takes place at Centennial Park and Ybor State Museum, in Ybor City on Saturday 1 Dec from 11am to 4pm. Centennial Park will have ice-skating, two giant snow slides make-n-take crafts and continuous holiday entertainment. Visit with Santa and enjoy holiday entertainment in the courtyard of Ybor State Museum. The Museum will have free admission. Visit with Jack Frost, a walking, talking Christmas Tree, the Geico Gecko and the Grump.

Also, Historic Streetcar rides are only 25 cents from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m on Saturday.

The Krewe of Venus Holiday Parade will start at 4pm and will have over 50 entries. The parade route is Nick Nuccio Parkway and Sixth Avenue, then heads north to Seventh Avenue, east to 19th Street, north to Ninth Avenue, west to 15th Street and north to eastbound Palm Avenue. The  best viewing of the parade will be along 7th Ave between 15th and 19th St.

Watch the Tops in Blue perform during their Tampa stop as part of their 2007 World Tour. Tops In Blue is an all-active duty US Air Force special unit made up of talented amateur performers selected for their entertainment abilities. See them perform “The Fly-By” a musical tribute to 60 years of proud Air Force history.

They will perform on Tuesday 27 Nov at 7:30pm at the St. Pete Times Forum.

It is free and open to the public.

Watch the Enchanted Tree Lighting Ceremony in Hyde Park Village on Friday 23 Nov from 6pm to 8pm. There will be lots of fun activities for adults and children including carriage rides, face painters, storytelling, hot cocoa, live holiday music and a visit from Santa!

There will be complimentary parking in parking garages near the corner of Swann and Dakota Aves.

MACDILL IN

New arrivals, PCSing with family members, may stay at the MacDill Inn TLF (Temporary Lodging Facility) for up to 30 days, while searching or waiting for housing. Unaccompanied E-7’s and above and unaccompanied officers can stay at the VOQ (Visiting Officers Quarters) for up to 30 day while searching for a house.

The MacDill Inn has a great Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF) that offers a 1 or 2 bedroom suite. The 1 bedroom suite can accommodate 5 people. The 2 bedroom suite can accommodate 7 people. The TLF suites have a fully equipped kitchen, living room, bathroom, TV/VCR, queen sized beds, vacuum, washer, dryer and Internet access. The TLF cost $36 a day. The MacDill Inn is located within walking distance to the MacDill Lanes bowling alley and the base gym. The base theater is also nearby and plays movies on Fridays and Saturdays.

The VOQ (Visiting Officers Quarters) offers an Officers’ Suite for $38. This room includes a Queen sized bed, a sine single bath, dining table, microwave, TV/VCR, coffee pot and mini-fridge.

MacDill will accept the confirm reservations, if space is available, up to 30 days in advance. of the arrival date. If necessary, an extension is available. A credit card will be needed to guarantee reservations after 1800 hours. Reservations not guaranteed with a credit card at 1800 hours will be canceled.

MacDill Inn front desk offers 24 hour front desk check-in/out, a menu of sundry items, complimentary coffee in the lobby, a business room with internet and fax and a fitness room.

Pets are only allowed in designated pet friendly TLFs. They are not permitted in any other facility and are not permitted to be left leashed outside or left in cars. If your pet is found an area other then a pet friendly area, guests will be asked to leave and charged a $250 cleaning fee. Here is a list of kennels to keep your pets in.

Try out the YMCA 4th Annual Turkey Gobble Run on Thanksgiving at 7:30am!

Before you enjoy that turkey and stuffing, work up an appetite by joining the Downtown YMCA in Tampa for a run or walk in their 4th Annual Turkey Gobble Run 5K or 10K! It is a free run. It starts at 7:30am on Thanksgiving morning. To register call Cynthia at 813.229.1305. The first 75 people to register will get a free long sleeved commemorative t-shirt.
